It is highly advisable to the vehicle in 5th or REVERSE Gear before removing this collar and leave it like that until the item is replaced.
Note: You need to send your unit in to be modified . There is NOT an option to pay a deposit and send yours in later due to a number of units being lost/damaged . These original collars are hard to replace so please send via a signed-for and insured postal service.
When refitting Tighten the Collar/Bush to a torque of 100 Nm (74 Ibt ft).
This modification represents the ultimate selector shaft upgrade in that it offers a significant improvement over the original. Most selector shaft/collar assemblies are now heavily worn (typically wearing in an oval although this can be hard to see by eye) and much looser than they should be.
The collar is sleeved with a bush that returns the collar to true round (from oval). To the original tight tollerances. The bush/bearing surface area is increased to 500% of the original and straddles any wear grooves (notches) in the selector shaft itself thus returning this assembly to as good as new. It should also last longer than the original due to the increased bearing surface.
